Pickler who was born Kellie Dawn Pickler in June of 1986, went through an unhappy childhood. As a young girl, her mother ran away to avoid an abusive situation. Her mother returned in 1995 to her life and took the full custody. But things did not turn out as expected. When Pickler reached the age of 12, the court returned her to her maternal grandparents who brought her up to adulthood. Pickler was, in the absence of her parents as well as her elder siblings, became too busy to become a mom. She confessed that, in the absence of both parents Pickler's schedule was so busy that she could not take classes. She instead began in the process of learning to care for her family members at a younger time. Pickler was on her high school's and middle school's cheerleading team.
